How WEWJA Rates Are Invested

Sewer service plays a critical role in protecting public health, supporting local communities and safeguarding nearby waterways. At WEWJA, the rates customers pay are used exclusively to operate, maintain and improve the regional wastewater system.

As a public authority, WEWJA does not generate profits for shareholders. Every dollar collected from customers is reinvested directly into the system to keep it running safely and reliably.

Setting rates involves careful planning to balance affordability with the long-term needs of the infrastructure that serves our communities. WEWJA regularly evaluates the condition of pipes, pump stations and treatment facilities while considering regulatory requirements, maintenance needs and future system improvements. These decisions are guided by engineering assessments, financial planning and oversight from the Authority’s public board to ensure the system remains reliable today while preparing for the needs of the future.

Residential customers receive sewer bills on a quarterly basis. Commercial customers receive sewer bills on a monthly basis.
